As featured in Creative Knitting magazine, May '04.  This lovely shawl coat kit is knitted in one piece using fabulous hand-dyed mohair boucle from Fibreworks.  Starting in one corner, the body of the coat is a diamond shape with two openings for armholes.  Picking up stitches from these armhole openings, the sleeves are knitted from the top down - No Seams!  The coat has a large collar which can be worn up as a hood to keep the cold chills out.  There will be some left-over yarn, so we have designed a bonus a hat and scarf pattern to match.

Color Selection

This kit has been designed for our range of hand-dyed mohair yarns from Fibreworks, both in boucle and brushed.  The coat pictured above was made with the mohair boucle "heatherlie sandstone" color choice.  It is a very simple design to allow the yarn to "speak".  If you are new to knitting, we recommend that you start with the brushed mohair rather than the boucle.  Both yarns knit up beautifully, but all those boucle loops can be a little confusing.  Knitted up on US11 (8mm) circular needles, this is a fun project which looks and feels stunning (the needles are not included in the kit, and must be ordered separately.  They are available for order below).

The kit requires 4x200g skeins, and includes the yarn and pattern (including a bonus scarf and hat pattern).  It is in one size only, but can be made longer or shorter as desired.  In measurements, it is roughly 55"(140cm) to 58"(150cm) square, with sleeves of about 19"(50cm), but this is all adjustable.
